AMy NOVOTNEY

THANKS FOR VISITING

I'm a Chicago-based freelance writer and editor with more than 20 years of experience writing about health and wellness for a variety of consumer and professional publications.

My background includes writing and editing anything from short news briefs on new research in the field of psychology and long-term care to more in-depth and research-backed features, such as investigating the long-term effects of mass shootings on survivors. I hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and have spent the last 20 years honing my reporting, writing and editing skills and learning how to translate often confusing medical terminology and jargon into accessible and informative pieces for a variety of audiences. I enjoy conducting the necessary research and interviews to make my articles relevant and interesting to my readers, collaborating with writers and other content creators to bring stories to life, and I bring my industry knowledge and experience to every project I tackle.

Current and past clients include the Guardian, Baltimore's Urbanite magazine, the American Psychological Association's Monitor on Psychology magazine, AAP NewsMcKnight's Long-Term Care News, McKnight's Senior Living, McKnight's Home Care, Baxter Healthcare, Canton & Company, Porter County Government, McKinsey & Company and Northwestern University.
